Mastercam | IMTS Booth #133222

As always, Mastercam is bringing a lot to the table at IMTS. Mastercam 2025 was released in July, and with it come a slew of new enhancements.

Mastercam Deburr: This is a new Add-On toolpath that simplifies the deburring process through automatic edge detection and intuitive controls. While this is already a Multiaxis feature, you can now use this in a 3-axis environment.
A/Y-Axis Turning in Mill-Turn: Support for Y-axis turning will be introduced with Mastercam 2025 for all turning toolpaths except for custom thread and B-axis contour turning.
Finishing Passes for Dynamic Mill and Area Mill: Users can now add high speed finishing passes along the selected boundaries of the toolpath. You can further define the path with other parameters on the Finish Passes page as well, like feed rate and spindle speed overrides. Use the stock-to-leave options to ensure there is material for the finish passes, and the Lead In/Out page allows you to set specific lead in and out options for finish passes only.

On Tuesday, September 10 you’ll be able to meet Dean Zelinsky, who used Mastercam to create the world’s first titanium hollow body guitar.

ROBOZE

It’s been a busy year for ROBOZE, the global leader in additive manufacturing for high-performance materials. CloudNC - a manufacturing technology company - today announces that its CAM Assist solution, which uses AI to generate machining strategies for 3 and 3+2 axis CNC machines, is now available for Mastercam users.

The new upgrade is available as an AI add-on for the Mastercam platform, one of the world’s most-used CAM software solutions, and means more machinists globally can use CAM Assist, bringing its efficiency and productivity gains to an even larger audience than before.

CAM Assist uses advanced computer science techniques and AI to generate intuitive machining strategies in minutes or seconds, depending on complexity, which could take CNC machine programmers hours or even days to manually create.

As a result, the amount of time it takes to program a CNC machine to make a component - a bottleneck in many factories – is greatly reduced, compared to the previous manual programming process, as is the time spent to estimate how much a new component will cost to program.

That gain enables manufacturers using CAM Assist to raise productivity and shorten lead times, while also estimating for more work, more quickly. CloudNC also recently announced the release of a new CAM Assist feature, Cutting Parameters AI, that automatically generates appropriate physics based feeds and speeds for virtually any CNC machining scenario, in moments, resulting in productivity gains of at least 20%, and this feature is also available in Mastercam.

Mastercam 2025 Public Beta 1 Released

Are you an up-to-date Maintenance customer? Do you want to try out the upcoming version of Mastercam 2025 before it hits shelves this summer? Look no further!

Using your Mastercam account login, you can download the free Public Beta release here. Participants get an early look at all the new features and enhancements, which builds on the impact that everything going into the major releases is from real-world feedback. Taking part Public Beta, as well as the customer feedback program gives you a voice as a user and helps prioritize new developments and identify areas of improvement.

A few of the features you’ll get to try out are:

Mastercam 2020 Sunset Support Ending June 30

With the upcoming release of Mastercam 2025 in July, all product related updates and support for Mastercam 2020 will come to an end. If you’re still running 2020, you will lose out on critical savings if and when you choose to update. Once Mastercam 2025 is released, you'll have to purchase the latest software at 65% of list price to re-enter the maintenance program. If you act now, you can update at 45% of list.

If you choose to remain off maintenance, your Mastercam 2020 will run perpetually as it is yours to own. If you decide to re-engage in Mastercam's maintenance program before July, you can still choose to run Mastercam 2020 but will have access to the latest and greatest Mastercam has to offer, as well as a direct line to CCCS support.

Desktop Metal: Studio System vs. Shop System

Mastercam APlus Add-On

Mastercam partner CAMufacturing has developed APlus, an Add-On to Mastercam developed specifically for AM. Using the same interface Mastercam users are familiar with, APlus customers can program, backplot, and simulate their 3D printing scenarios just like they would with traditional toolpaths in Mastercam.

APlus by CAMufacturing is designed for AM using Direct Energy Deposition (DED) and has toolpaths developed specifically to handle any geometry in AM, as well as features and utilities designed to remove uncertainty out of the process and to improve efficiency. APlus can be used with Mastercam Mill, Lathe, or Router licenses (except for Entry).

CGTech VERICUT® Additive Module

VERICUT’s Additive module simulates both additive and traditional machining (milling or turning) capabilities of new hybrid CNC machines. It has various features and benefits such as:

Verifies laser activity. The Additive module provides CNC machine simulation for accurate laser cladding and material deposition. VERICUT reads the laser parameters, controls laser wattage, flow of carrier gas, and metallic powder specific to each job/material type.

Detect collisions. VERICUT detects collisions between the machine and the additive part with its collision checking extended to cover additive parts as they’re being built, and expensive hybrid machine laser equipment. This provides the ability to gauge potential problems beforehand.
Quick access history. With droplet technology, VERICUT’s additive model is much more than just “deposited material.” Each bead contains valuable history information about how it got there. This saves time investigating errors, voids, or misplaced material since the source of the problem is revealed with just one click.
5-Axis machining. The verification process of VERICUT accurately checks for errors on all 5-axis milling, turning, and additive laser sintering processes no matter how complex the machining operation.
G-Code – Hybrid machines. Simulation is powered by the same post-processed NC code used to drive the CNC machine, which enables the user to ensure additive functions are within proper ranges. VERICUT makes it simple to alternate from additive, to cutting, and back to additive in any sequence.
Large Scale Additive Manufacturing (LSAM). The Additive module supports simulation of both Large Scale Additive manufacturing (LSAM) and Big Area Additive Manufacturing (BAAM) machines and processes.
Realistic appearance. The Additive module offers superior simulation of material deposition that is easily distinguished from cut stock. Therefore, having the ability to clearly see where each bead of material is placed in a step-by-step process is essential for AM.

Verisurf Software, Inc. and CAD/CAM CONSULTING SERVICES INC. announced the signing of a reseller agreement at the opening of WESTEC 2023 at the Long Beach Convention Center, booth #1609. Under the agreement, CAD/CAM Consulting will help introduce and sell Verisurf metrology solutions to OEMs and job shops in Southern California and Nevada.

Long Beach, Calif. (November 7, 2023). Verisurf Software, Inc. and CAD/CAM CONSULTING SERVICES INC. (CCCS) announced the signing of a reseller agreement at the opening of WESTEC 2023 at the Long Beach Convention Center, booth #1609. Under the agreement, CCCS will help introduce and sell Verisurf metrology solutions in Southern California and Nevada.

The reseller relationship between Verisurf and CCCS is unique. CCCS is an authorized Mastercam reseller. Verisurf metrology software is built on the Mastercam platform, providing an integrated CAD/CAM/CAI (Computer Aided Inspection) and RE (Reverse Engineering) solution. When Verisurf software is enabled, its complete functionality and toolset are accessible from the Mastercam menu bar.

Verisurf also works as a stand-alone metrology solution and is the only metrology software offering full-featured 3D CAD/CAM with intelligent Model-Based Definition (MBD). Mastercam 2024 Training Schedule

After you’ve visited one of our three Rollouts, you’ll likely want to sign up for our upcoming Mastercam 2024 training courses. Training is one of the most frequent questions we get, and because of that we offer online and in-person options.

Online training courses include Mill, Lathe, and Multiaxis. They’re five weeks long and instructor led. Assignments are released every Monday and quizzes are given every Friday. This is a great option if you need to sneak in training in between your busy work and life schedule.

In-person training courses include Mill and Lathe, and are one day per week for three weeks. They are held at our offices.

CCCS Celebrates 30 Years

Dear CCCS Customers,

2023 marks the 30th anniversary of CAD/CAM CONSULTING SERVICES INC! I’m thrilled to celebrate this anniversary and know that it wouldn’t be possible without our loyal users who have helped get us to where we are today as the premier Reseller for Mastercam, Desktop Metal, and NCSIMUL in Southern CA and Nevada.

So how did it all begin? In 1993, when I was just a few years old, my late father Tom Shelar opened our first office in Newbury Park, CA. With strong ties to the Summers family, a penchant for manufacturing, and the opportunity to represent a relatively new technology in CAD/CAM, Tom set on a path to become a top Reseller in the world. By hiring a few key employees, many of whom are still working with us today, CCCS established a reputation for unparalleled sales, service, and support that is second to none when compared with any of the products and services we sell. Our success was built off of the mantra that the customer always comes first, and that still rings true today.

Since 1993 we’ve grown to nearly 20 employees, which includes three new additions this year alone. While some have come and gone, our commitment to the most important part of our business – you – is steadfast and unwavering. The hardworking culture my father instilled in us has not only crafted us as a business but has been ingrained in me since day one.

At CCCS we develop relationships, and many are still as strong as they were in the beginning. We’re local, we’re knowledgeable, and we’re always available to keep your manufacturing solutions running with an optimal output. Our staff isn’t here to just sell software and say good luck, we’re here to ensure your success. I see the next 30 years as no different.

It is with my heartfelt gratitude that I write this letter. We always have your back, and I just wanted to thank you for partnering in our mutual success over the years, and for years to come.

Stratasys Ltd. And Desktop Metal, Inc. announced on May 25, 2023 that they have entered into a definitive agreement whereby the companies will combine in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $1.8 billion. The transaction unites the polymer strengths of Stratasys with the complementary industrial mass production leadership of Desktop Metal’s brands, creating an additive manufacturing company that is expected to be well-positioned to serve the evolving needs of customers in manufacturing. For the first time in over 25 years, CAD/CAM CONSULTING SERVICES, INC. is opening a new office! We are proud to be part of the ever-growing San Diego manufacturing community and now we will be able to better support, train, and consult our existing and future customers in the area. With what will be our third location across Southern California, we hope that this new office will allow us to share our culture with an even greater amount of manufacturers in the region. We pride ourselves on building long-lasting relationships with our customers and partnering in their success, and we are excited to now have a home base in San Diego to better fulfill our customers’ needs.

Now that we can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, we decided it was finally time to plant our flag in San Diego soil. Both our Newbury Park and Anaheim locations have always hosted customers for training on various aspects of Mastercam, starting with our Mill, Lathe, and Multiaxis training courses and extending to one-on-one curated training or tech support for Mastercam and NCSimul, and we intend to have our San Diego office function just the same. After being a top 10 worldwide Mastercam reseller every year for the past 28 years, we have shown that we know how to help our customers get the most out of their investment, and this formula will now be more effectively spread across the San Diego and Imperial counties. Additionally, we aim to make this location a focal point for manufacturers interested in the Desktop Metal line of 3D metal printers, and with our aforementioned longstanding success in growing Southern California manufacturing, this is yet another tool to offer customers looking to grow their company and stay on the leading edge of manufacturing.

As existing members of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce and with the investment CNC Software has made in the San Diego and Imperial counties with partnerships with Workshop for Warriors and other tooling manufacturers, our goal is to continue to expand the roots of Mastercam in San Diego to strengthen the foundation of manufacturing in the region. A hot-bed for medical and defense manufacturing, as well as a myriad of other industries, San Diego is ripe with innovative and motivated companies constantly looking for ways to improve. With our combination of the full suite of Mastercam, various Desktop Metal 3D printers, and NCSimul verification software, all being supported by a world-class and industry trained staff, we hope to add an extra fold to the landscape of developing manufacturing business in San Diego.
